Do I need any prerequisites to take Leading SAFe?
No prerequisites. Once you register you gain access to online prep material that takes about 90 minutes to complete before class, so you arrive ready. Leading SAFe suits executives, managers, and change leaders — no prior SAFe experience required.
What’s included in the course?

Is the course available in-person or remote?
Both. You can join live in-person or live-virtual (remote) — every cohort is instructor-led by an authorised SAFe instructor (SPC/ASPC), and you keep the session recordings.
What is the difference between Leading SAFe and the SAFe Agilist (SA) credential?
Leading SAFe is the name of the training course. SAFe Agilist (SA) is the formal certification you earn after passing the exam.
What are the exam details and passing score?
45 multiple-choice/multiple-select questions, 90 minutes, passing score 80% (36 of 45). Taken online; your first attempt is included. See the official SA 6.0 exam study guide.
Can I get certified without passing the exam?
No. Attending the official course unlocks the exam, and you must pass the exam to earn the SAFe Agilist (SA) certification.
Can I take the exam without attending the course?
Generally no. For almost all SAFe certifications, attending the official course (delivered by a certified SPC) is required to unlock the exam in SAFe Studio.
What should I focus on to pass?
Master the 10 SAFe Lean-Agile Principles and Core Values, the mechanics of PI (Program Increment) Planning, and the structure and roles within an Agile Release Train (ART).
What’s the retake policy?
Your first retake can be taken immediately after a failed attempt. Subsequent retakes require a 10–30 day waiting period and a small fee.
How long is the certification valid, and how much is renewal?
SAFe certifications are valid for one year. You renew through annual SAFe Studio membership — about $100/year for foundational levels.
How does Leading SAFe differ from Scrum certifications like CSM or PSM?
CSM and PSM certify you to run Scrum on a single team. Leading SAFe (SAFe Agilist) is about scaling that agility — aligning many teams, programs, and portfolios into one flow of value across the enterprise. The emphasis moves from one team’s process to organisation-wide Lean-Agile leadership, PI Planning, and Agile Release Trains.
Where can Leading SAFe take my career?
SAFe Agilist is the foundation for enterprise Agile roles — Scrum Master, Product Owner / Product Manager, and Release Train Engineer — and the stepping stone to advanced and consultant credentials such as SPC. It shows you can lead Lean-Agile change beyond a single team.
