What does an SPC actually do in an organization?
An SPC is a change agent who guides the enterprise through the SAFe Implementation Roadmap, identifies value streams, launches Agile Release Trains (ARTs), and coaches executives. SPCs are authorised to deliver SAFe training and certify others.
What are the prerequisites for the Implementing SAFe (SPC) course?
There is no rigid barrier to entry, but Scaled Agile recommends 5+ years in business analysis, project management, or agile coaching, plus foundational certs like Leading SAFe (SA) or SAFe for Teams. Once you register you also get online prep material (about 90 minutes) to review before class.
What’s included in the course?

What are the exam details and passing score?
60 multiple-choice questions, 120 minutes, passing score 80%. Your first attempt is included; retakes carry a higher fee (about $250 per attempt) given the advanced level. See the official SPC 6.0 exam study guide.
Can I get certified without passing the exam?
No. Completing the course unlocks the exam, and you must pass it to earn the SPC certification and become authorised to teach SAFe.
Can I take the exam without attending the course?
Generally no. Course completion is required to unlock the SPC exam in SAFe Studio.
What courses can I teach as an SPC?
As an SPC you’re licensed to teach the core SAFe role courses — for example Leading SAFe, SAFe for Teams, SAFe Scrum Master, and SAFe POPM. The exact list differs for SPC, ASPC, and SPCT and is kept current by Scaled Agile — see which courses am I allowed to teach?

Your first retake can be taken immediately; subsequent retakes require a 10–30 day waiting period and a fee.
How long is the certification valid, and how much is renewal?
SAFe certifications are valid for one year, renewed through annual SAFe Studio membership.
Where can SPC take my career?
SPC is the change-agent credential that opens transformation roles — SAFe Program Consultant, transformation lead, enterprise / Agile coach, and senior PMO — and is the gateway to the advanced ASPC and SPCT credentials.
